“Rawhide” Parfleche Instructions

 

1. You will need one lunch size brown paper bag for each student in the class.
   
   
2. Cut the bottom out of the bag and cut along one seam down the side, the bag will then be in the shape of a rectangle. 
   
   
3. Fill a sink with warm water.
   
   
4.  Soak the bags one at a time in the warm water.
   
   
5. Take the wet bag and crumple it.
   
   
6. Let the bag sit for a couple of minutes. 
   
   
7. Carefully un-crumple the bag and let it sit on a flat surface to dry.
   
   
8. When the bag dries it will simulate the texture of a buffalo hide.
